15-5PH is a stainless steel grade containing around 15% Cr and 5% Ni with additions of copper. It is a precipitation hardenable grade possessing all the properties of its predecessor 17-4PH. Close control of melting and processing gives a unique structure which contributes to the alloys increased toughness and corrosion resistance when compared to 17-4PH. The alloy finds applications in aerospace for landing gear components, shafts, fittings and fasteners as well as numerous uses in chemical processing equipment and nuclear reactor components.
